Q: Will my work be depicted exactly the way I submitted it?
A: Lord & Taylor reserves the right to modify the artwork to fit application and company vision.
Q: Does it have to be original artwork?
A: Yes. All applicants MUST submit original work in order to be considered. Lord & Taylor is not liable for infringements for falsely represented, copied, imitated or stolen artwork. Submissions that are not original artwork of participant will be subject to disqualification. Artists may be asked to sign a certificate of authenticity to verify originality of the work.
Q: Can I submit my work in person or by mail?

Q: Can I submit a type of flower other than the rose?
A: No. The Rose has been Lord & Taylor's iconic symbol since the 1940's.
Q: Does it have to be in the "sunrise" color?
A: You may create your work using any colors you wish.
Q: Can I submit photography?
A: Yes. Lord & Taylor accepts submissions from artists, graphic artists and photographers.
Q: May I submit more than one artwork entry?
A: No, multiple submissions will not be considered. Only one artwork entry may be submitted per individual.
Q: How will my artwork be judged?
A: Artwork will be judged on originality, branding potential and overall aesthetics.
Q: How will the winner be selected?
A: LaVelle Olexa, Lord & Taylor's Senior Vice President of Advertising, Sales Promotion and Public Relations will select the top sixty entries. These sixty will advance to the first round of public voting. The top thirty entries with the highest number of votes will advance to the second round of public voting. The Grand Prize winner will be announced at www.lordandtaylor.com/rosecontest on July 2nd.

Q: Where will the winning artwork be shown?
A: The winning artwork will be featured in Lord & Taylor's 2009 Rose Campaign, with applications including Fifth Avenue windows, Fifth Avenue awnings, shopping bags, gift cards, boxes, visuals in all Lord & Taylor stores and any other chosen applications.

EVERYTHING’S COMING UP ROSES! - THE 2008 LORD & TAYLOR, LLC ROSE CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. 1. Submissions will be accepted in the forms of all graphic art, including but not limited to, sketches, drawings, paintings and photography. 2. All applications must be completed in full and contain truthful and accurate information. By participating, entrants agree to the event rules and regulations and consent to Lord & Taylor’s conducting a criminal background check on finalists. 3. Participants must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor, other than a minor traffic violation, and must enter as an independent artist. Verification of the participant’s age (i.e. birth certificate, school record, etc.) is required by the Sponsors (Lord & Taylor and its affiliates). 4. Winner must be available for all of the following: public appearances, press interviews, and any other media requested by Lord & Taylor and its affiliates. 5. One grand prize winner wins a $10,000 cash prize, and may have artwork appear in Lord & Taylor’s Spring 2009 Rose Campaign, all collateral including but not limited to: advertising, direct mail pieces, gift cards, gift boxes, shopping bags, store signage, Fifth Avenue windows and awnings and any other promotional or campaign-related pieces owned by Lord & Taylor and its affiliates. 6. Upon payment by Sponsor, winner agrees that the artwork shall be deemed a work made for hire and that all intellectual property rights shall vest in Lord & Taylor, LLC. 7. Contest is open to Regional, National and International contestants ages 18 and up, except employees (and immediate families) of Lord & Taylor and its affiliates. Contest is subject to all U.S. federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where restricted by law. 8. Winner(s) will be required to sign a certificate of authenticity, an affidavit of eligibility and release, an intellectual property release and an indemnity statement. In the event that the winning artwork has complicated intellectual property infringement issues, then at Sponsor's sole discretion, the second place entry shall become the grand prize winner. 9. Participants are solely responsible for their actions and agree to defend and hold harmless Lord & Taylor and its affiliates and their officers, directors, employees, agents and licensees from any liability or claim arising in connection with their participation and/or prizes. Entry constitutes permission to use participant’s name and/or likeness and artwork for any advertising, promotion, or publicity, whether or not in connection with the contest, and participant agrees that such publicity does not require prior approval or financial compensation. 10. All submissions of photos, artists’ entries and other materials and elements of this contest are the property of Lord & Taylor and its affiliates and will not be returned to the participants. 11. In order to cast your vote you must submit your name, address and e-mail address. Each e-mail address will be able to vote once for the top sixty round, and once for the top thirty round. 12. In the event of any noncompliance with these rules, the participant/winner may be disqualified and an alternative participant/winner selected. 13. Online voting will count for 49% of total votes. Industry experts’ votes will count for 51% of total votes. Industry experts will select the winner at their discretion. 14. If for any reason the voting is not capable of being run as planned, including, but not limited to, as the result of infection by computer viruses or bugs, technological problems, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, or any other cause beyond the control of Sponsors, which is likely to or actually corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the voting, then Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to withdraw the transmission of any vote and/or to terminate or suspend the voting at any point and declare the voting results based upon the votes up to that point or any other basis as Sponsors may decide, in their sole discretion. 15. By entering your e-mail address and/or phone number, you may receive savings coupons and marketing contacts from Lord & Taylor via e-mail or phone. All contacts will include the option to remove yourself from any future contacts from Lord & Taylor.
